sunday CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
during 10:30am services
At Christ Church, we desire to form whole-life disciples of Jesus for the world. Our goal is to provide a fun and interactive environment where children are nurtured, accepted, and can experience the rich traditions of the Episcopal Church.
We believe that parents are the primary source of spiritual formation in a child’s life. We hope to support parents by providing opportunities for a growing faith on Sundays. We also have resources for continued Christian education at home. Our children’s Ministry is a practical means to experience the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. We do this through engaging Bible storytelling, worship through play, and developmentally focused and engaging discussions.
Our curriculum: God’s Big Story follows the Episcopal Lectionary cycle. In the fall we teach the stories from the Old Testament. In the spring we follow the stories from the Gospels. During summer we explore living in this world as Jesus did and learn to engage our rich Christian practices.
Pre-k through 5th grade
Children in PreK through 5th grade meet in the Children’s Hallway. As you accompany your children down the stairs to their classrooms, one of our staff will check them in. Your children will join you again at the passing of the peace to join you for Holy Communion.
GBS Preschool Curriculum is for children ages 4-5. This one year curriculum was designed to transition children from the Little Ones program to the regular GBS elementary program with shorter stories, lots of review and plenty of play time.
GBS Years A-F are geared towards Elementary Kids. Each year of this 6-year curriculum covers Old Testament stories in the Fall, New Testament stories beginning in Advent through to Pentecost and Catechetical Topics in the spring and summer. Lesson are structured for worship with an opening liturgy, singing, hearing God’s word, response time and prayer.
