sunday school

Sundays during the 8:00am and 10:30am services

At Christ Church, we desire to form whole-life disciples of Jesus for the world, and this vision is alive and well in our Children's Programming. Our goal is to provide a fun and interactive environment where children are nurtured, accepted, and can experience the rich traditions of the Episcopal Church.

We believe that parents are the primary source of spiritual formation in a child’s life. We support parents in that task by providing opportunities for child learning in Sunday School as well as tools to use at home for continued Christian education. Our children’s Sunday School classes provide practical, everyday ways to experience the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. We do this through engaging Bible storytelling, teaching the word of God so children can know Him, and provide an opportunity for children to explore their faith with developmentally focused and engaging discussions.

Our curriculum follows the Episcopal Lectionary cycle. In the fall we teach the stories from the Old Testament. In the spring we follow the stories from the Gospels. During summer we explore living in this world as Jesus did and learn to engage in Christian practices that build upon a personal relationship with Jesus and tools to shape a Christian worldview.

Infant and Toddler Sunday School (Birth-Age 3)

Classroom A – Off the Commons – Close to the Sanctuary

We believe children can learn about the love of Jesus. At Christ Church, we always have a prepared Bible story, sing songs, have a snack together and play a game or do a craft to help them connect God’s love with their lives. Parents are welcome to pick up their child at the Passing of the Peace so their family can worship and have Holy Communion together.

Preschool (Age 4-Kindergarten)

Children in PreK through Kindergarten meet in Room 001 in the Children’s Hallway. They are greeted by a trained volunteer who has a passion for sharing the word of God with children in this age group. They have a choice of joining other children playing a game or doing a craft. Then they join Elementary age students for a time of praise and Bible teaching through song and storytelling. Then they return to their classroom for a snack and a discussion time about the Bible teaching. The classroom volunteers bring them into the sanctuary during the Passing of the Peace so families can continue worship.

Grades 1-5: Elementary Sunday School

Children in 1st to 5th Grade meet in the Children’s Hallway. They have a choice of joining other children playing a game or doing a craft. Then they move into the Worship Room for a time of praise and Bible teaching through song and storytelling. Then they return to the classroom for a snack and a discussion time about the Bible teaching. The classroom volunteers bring them into the sanctuary during the Passing of the Peace so families can continue worship.
