‘Being With’ Workshop and Quiet Morning

Join Fr Joseph for this workshop and quiet morning on prayer as ‘being with’ God. As we wrap up our preaching, practice, and small-group discussion series on prayer, this morning will feature a brief teaching on ‘being with’, followed by a guided prayer practice known as Beholding Prayer.

9:10 - 9:45am - ‘Being With’: The Aim of All Prayer
Fr Joseph Wolyniak

In this session, Fr Joseph will preview the last installment of our prayer series by focusing on the goal of all prayer: being with God. This brief teaching will highlight the biblical theme of God’s persistent presence, setting us up to experience the pure enjoyment of ‘calming and quieting our souls’ to rest in God (Psalm 131.2).

9:45 - 10:00am BREAK

10:00 - 10:45am - Beholding Prayer Experience, Fr Joseph Wolyniak
Julian Chapel

Participants will not just talk about ‘being with’ God, but actually experience it: bringing all of ourselves to God and allowing him to be present to us with compassion, kindness, and love. Following the ‘Window of the Soul’ exercise (pgs 37-8 of our Prayer Practice Guide), we will open ourselves up to simply be with God––without intercession, petition, or agenda.

10:45 - 11:00am BREAK
