A spring cleanup day in April brought together members of Christ Church and 6:10 Church, a church plant that has been meeting in our building since 2023. We are blessed to be able to partner with them as they have grown from a dozen folks meeting in the loft to over 60 people in Barnes Hall every Sunday afternoon.
Christ Church Denver has been blessed with a beautiful building and lovely grounds, and the Facilities team considers it a privilege to be able to maintain, improve and manage our property, both inside and out. Our goal is always to provide a safe, welcoming environment for anyone who comes in the doors, and we trust that our care and commitment is evident in the work we do.
2025 brought new events and services to Christ Church that expanded the capacity of the Facilities team. Returning the West Room to its status as a multipurpose room for services and rehearsals was a major undertaking for us, as was working with the Worship Committee to successfully implement the Great Vigil service in April. We also hosted Vacation Bible School in June, the diocesan ordination service in September, and over 800 people for the three services on Christmas Eve. All these events took careful planning, in-depth cleaning, and meticulous management, and the entire team was crucial to their success.
Outdoors, safety and aesthetics were our top priorities, from the arborist who pruned the linden and pear trees in the courtyard, to the regular shoveling and salting operations that keep our sidewalks and entry areas as clear as possible in the winter months. We’ve loved using the courtyard in particular for parish picnics, and the south lawn has been a great space for frisbee, crafts, and enjoying the Colorado sunshine.
The Facilities team this year included Heidi Farr, Liz Wolfert, Charlotte Wanberg and Bruce Dunn. Many parishioners have pitched in throughout the year, helping to put away tables and chairs, weed the flower beds, and keep the common areas tidy and organized. We so appreciate each person who lends a hand - our team could not do this work without you!
In 2026 we anticipate increasing our volunteer ranks by creating teams responsible for opening and closing the building on Sunday mornings - if you would like to turn the lights on and open the doors (or the reverse at the end of the morning!), we would love to build this ministry. Please contact Heidi Farr for more information.
