Worship Ministries

As Fr. Terry always reminds us, "Worship is Job #1"! Worship ministries, in all their forms and functions, from Acolytes, Chalice Bearers, Lectors, Prayer Teams, Ushers, Vergers, and Altar Guild to Music and Tech, all offer the profound opportunity to help others encounter the transforming presence of God through word, sacrament, and song.

The "Ministry Celebration" held in mid-November highlighted the various ministries at Christ Church and provided parishioners an opportunity to discuss in "real time" the focus of each ministry as well as ways to connect/volunteer/serve. The Worship Ministry table/booth attracted a large number of interested persons seeking more information as well as an opportunity to indicate an interest in serving. Follow-up conversations resulted in trainings for new volunteers and inclusion in the first quarter schedules of 2026.

We have a tremendous group of volunteers involved in the Worship Ministries at Christ Church. Each Worship Ministry is coordinated by a wonderful team of volunteers: Acolytes were led by John Bredehoeft & Graham Kolb; Chalice Bearers by Fran Berry; Lectors by Jo Churchill; Prayer Teams by Dennis & Shirley Ridgley; Ushers by Bruce Dunn; Vergers by Fran Berry; Altar Guild by Allison Moore & Anna McLean; Music by Dan Dufford & Chris Bendrell; and Tech by Adam Pierson, Michele Pierson, & Zack Ruybal.

The primary goal for each Worship Ministry is to increase involvement by members of our parish family. Serving as a Worship Ministry volunteer usually only requires a once/month commitment. "Refresher" trainings are offered frequently and written guidelines (Customaries) are available from the Coordinators. Individuals, couples, and families are encouraged to participate. Contact the appropriate Coordinator listed above for how best to become involved.
