New members, as well as the newly baptized are welcomed during All Saints’ Sunday
Christ Church strives to be a warmly welcoming community that invites folks into the full life of the church through connection with each other and deepening relationships.
In 2025, 31 new members stood up at Easter and All Saint's Day to affirm the Apostles Creed and make an official declaration that Christ Church is their home. Each year we offer Newcomer Orientations that give people an inside look at what makes CCD a unique Evangelical, Charismatic, Orthodox, Liturgical/Sacramental, Episcopal Church.
Weekend Away is our annual, parish weekend getaway to Trail West in Buena Vista. Held Sept 12-14, we enjoyed practically all the weather Colorado has to offer in addition to the excellent facilities, pickleball courts, pool, climbing wall, “the Fort,” and everything else Trail West has to offer. The subject of the teaching was the introduction of the Whole-Life Discipleship Manual of Practice. Folks got to hear first-hand how it was developed, the way it invites them into personal formation, and gave time in small groups to deepen connection with each other and the material.
A regular feature of our parish life is the good old-fashioned potluck! This year we gathered between the services in January for the Epiphany Pageant, at Pentecost, and in the courtyard after Bluegrass Sunday in July.
From Bev Fish leading the greeters to Debbie Tarvin and her potluck squad, we are so grateful for everyone who regularly make events like these possible. Michele Pierson has been the Weekend Away coordinator for many years and did an excellent job again in 2025 along with her team of volunteers. The Men's group is also a faithful crew especially when manning the grills. And, the Daughters of the King are an indispensable help in all things hospitality. Thank you all!
We will continue to host these and other events designed to facilitate the welcome and integration of new members as well as forging new connections with current members. Stay tuned for new ways of connecting with formation cohorts to walk alongside each other over various periods of time.
