Pastoral Care

Our mighty Prayer Team: Carol Oliver, Alice Bagley, Spence Flournoy, Graham Kolb, Scott Barnes, Cyndy McRae

Pastoral Care says: you are not alone. God has not forgotten you. Here at Christ Church we are honored to walk with you, pray with you, and be part of your journey. We are here to ensure that your needs—spiritual support, grief care, and prayer requests—are shared with our pastors and prayer team, so you are held in prayer and care by the wider church community.

This past year was a sad one for the Christ Church Congregation. Many of our elderly parishioners passed away, which resulted in 19 funerals over the course of 2025. Ouch! As sad as it has been to lose them, what a blessing to know that this is not the end! The Eucharistic Visitor team grew by two new members, Scott Barnes and John Morrison. Vee Henderson has stepped down from this ministry, and we are deeply grateful for the many ways she has served. We have been truly blessed by her presence and dedication. The Meal Train, led by Carol Oliver, was quite active this past year. Many thanks to Carol and to everyone who signed up to provide meals for our parishioners. This vital ministry is always in need of volunteers, and all are welcome to help.

Many thanks to the Christ Church Prayer Team! Led by Spence Flournoy, this dedicated group meets weekly to review in depth the prayer requests and needs of our parishioners, as well as their friends and family. Scott Barnes faithfully maintains the prayer narrative spreadsheet, and his dedication and hard work are deeply appreciated. We are grateful to him and to all the members of the prayer team for their ongoing commitment and care.

In 2026, I am hoping to form a new ministry team made up of Eucharistic Visitors and volunteers for a visiting ministry. We have many parishioners in nursing homes and memory care settings who may not be able to receive Communion, and we want to ensure they remain connected and cared for as valued members of our congregation.
