But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” Whole-Life Discipleship is the name. Worship, Prayer, Scripture & Tradition, Daily Work & Vocation, Generosity & Service, Witness, and Community is the game.
Starting in September, Katie and I made the full transition into our roles. We’ve both felt so welcomed and supported as we’ve worked to put relationships with families and kids at the center. Our constant prayer is that all our families and children encounter Jesus at Christ Church. We’ve renewed liturgical elements, emphasized the beautiful stories of Holy Scripture, began updates to the CM wing, brought Whole-Family Worship back into the Sunday fold, and researched week after week into curriculum that reflects our deep desire for more Whole-life discipleship. We want to extend a huge thanks to all our volunteers and families who’ve given so much to bring God’s word weekly, living and true, to our children.
We've had some wonderful moments of witness this last year. We’ve been blessed with moments in the classroom seeing our children cared for by our wonderful nursery staff, DeeDee and Elise; taught, prayed over, and served by our generous volunteers; and it’s been so fun to share fellowship with the Christ Church family during Weekend Away, with wreath making, and by “baa”-ing alongside the kids at the Epiphany Pageant.
It takes a village, doesn’t it? All of y’all make it happen, but I'd like to extend a special thanks to those who’ve given up evenings of preparation and Sunday mornings of service, thank you, thank you, thank you! Our kids are so blessed by you; we are so blessed by you; Christ Church is blessed by your gift to raise up children in the Way of truth. ‘Whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward’
Looking ahead to 2026 – We’ll continue to renew the physical space our children worship in and incorporate curriculum changes that align with our Whole-life discipleship – forming children scripturally, sacramentally, liturgically, prayerfully, and joyfully. We’ll continue to do life together as one body in Whole-Family worship. We’ll also provide opportunities for community, parish, school, and neighborly invitation through monthly events with open doors. We’ll have so many opportunities to get involved: in the classroom, in work projects, at our events and in ways we don’t yet see. Ideas? Email Christian cschell@christchurchdenver.org
