Discipleship Formation for Adults

Our 2025 Lenten Preaching Series explored how God offers us salvation, freedom, and healing from those things that separate us from Him.

Formation is about more than just instruction. In alignment with our Whole-Life Discipleship Manual of Practice we seek to offer transformative opportunities in all seven areas of discipleship. This includes scripture studies, service opportunities, and small group connection.

  • Preaching Series: “Made Manifest” reflections on Jesus being revealed as the Word Incarnate; “Raised, for what?” a series dedicated to the new reality that Jesus’ resurrection invites us into; “Introduction to the Manual of Practice” describing Worship as job number 1’ Stewardship in light of Service and Generosity, “Where God meets Monday” a Daily Work and Vocation series.

  • Scripture Studies: Bruce Dunn has offered studies concentrating on the Psalms, Revelation, and currently moving into Isaiah. Fr. Terry completed a course on Galatians.

  • Service Opportunities: As part of our Service and Generosity series, we held a ministry fair to invite participation in the many ways of giving one’s time and talent to the work of Christ Church from facilities to worship. Many new volunteers stepped up for these important roles.

  • Small group engagement: In addition to our regular Men’s Group and Women’s Group, new cohort-style small groups are being launched. In January, a 9-month long Spiritual Formation Cohort was launched with 16 members with regular retreats punctuating their time, tracking weekly digital content, and monthly small group meetings.

Expect to encounter more preaching series based in the Manual of Practice as well as opportunities to join a cohort engaging more deeply in various areas of discipleship. These cohorts offer an extended time to connect with other members of Christ Church and really grow through engaged practice and reflection. There will also be opportunity for ongoing scripture study and reflection.
